FRANKFURT

The foundation of Frankfurt city was kept about seven thousand years ago. In the year 1180, Frankfurt city started developing and was subjected to a major economic growth. Trade started in the city in the sixteenth century and in the early seventeenth century it faced a tension between two groups, patricians and guilds. In the year 1648, Frankfurt city was given the confirmation of being an Imperial Free City. On March 22, 1944 the old city of Frankfurt was attacked by the British that led to the death of 1001 people.  At present, the city enjoys the status of one of the world''s most prominent metropolis.
