 The largest city and the capital of "Bosnia & Herzegovina", Sarajevo is home to 304,614 residents in 4 municipalities that structure the city properly. The city is also the capital of "Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity", as well as the hub of Sarajevo Canton. It is positioned in the Sarajevo vale of Bosnia, bordered with "Dinaric Alps" and located around the "Miljacka River."The place is well known for its religious diversity with believers of Judaism, Catholicism, Orthodoxy and Islam co-existing there for decades. Because of its rich history of religious diversity and co-existence, Sarajevo is often called as the "Jerusalem of Europe."

The culture of Sarajevo can be described in numerous ways. Many cultural events and festivals are celebrated every year, like "Sarajevo Jazz Festival", "Sarajevo Winter Festival" and "Bascarsija Nights". Numerous theatres exist in the city as well, like "National Theatre of Bosnia and Herzegovina." Besides, the place is also home to several cultural institutions, dedicated to keep the city's culture upright.

 

Sightseeing in Sarajevo 

"Ottoman Opulence at the Gazi Husrev-Bey" is a fine Islamic complex and also the most visited site in Sarajevo. This place was constructed in first half of sixteenth century and boasts a forty five meter minaret, dramatic dome and a couple of very ornamental tombs as well. Next place that can also be visited is "The Sarajevo Tunnel", a significant tombstone of people who had struggled against genocide.

 

 "Umjetnicka Akadmija" is another most visited place in Sarajevo. It is home to impressive and attractive collections that set it apart from all beautiful buildings of the city. Tourists can also enjoy drinking water from the fountain of "Gazi Husref Bey Mosque." Last but not the least, located in the centre of the city, "Turkish-style market" offers beautiful handicrafts and wares, clothing and jewelry.

Passport and Visa requirements for US Citizens

U.S. citizens are required to present a valid passport that has at least one blank visa page and the passport should not expire within six months of the last day you are in the country. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, you must first amend your passport to have pages added. If your passport expires within six months, you must renew your passport. U.S. citizens are not required to secure a visa in advance of travel to the country. You may stay in the country without a visa for a stay of up to 90 days.
