Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province located in southern china and having over ten million of population. The city is adjacent to Macau and Hong Kong. In the period of "tea clippers", it was known as "Canton'' in the West. The language and food of this area are still recognized as "Cantonese", and the code of airport is "CAN."

 

Guangzhou is very popular for foreign business and trade and held the largest trade fair known as Canton Fair of China. Each corner of the city seems packed with overpasses, buildings and people running in marathons. Also, the city boasts an island of renovated colonial buildings, largest urban park of China and some world class exhibitions and galleries spaces. These days, Guangzhou is known as the most cosmopolitan, liberal and prosperous city of China.

The Guangxia Temple is the most popular pilgrimage for all Zen Buddhists. This temple has been ruined many times by fire and the present building’s date only from the middle of nineteenth century. Next famous landmark that can be visited is Liurong Temple which is a temple of 6 banyan trees and contains seventeen stories with 8-sided "Hua Ta." Besides these two, Sun Yat Sen Memorial hall, Chen Clan Academy, Shishi Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Sanyuan Temple and others are some beautiful landmarks which are worth viewing.

 

Among Galleries and museums, Guangzhou City Art Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou Sculpture Park and others are some of most sought after places which present sculptures, Chinese paintings and calligraphy. These also tell the historic tales and stories of Opium Wars.

 

Some people also love to visit Huanghua Gang Commemoration Park, Yuexiu Park, Yuntai Garden, Huadu Square, Xiangjiang Wild Animal Safari Park where they can relax and do some recreational activities. Besides, you cannot miss visiting two famous mountains Baiyun Shan and Lianhuya Shan while in Guangzhou.
