Algiers
Algiers, the capital of Algeria is the largest metropolis of the country
and second largest city in Maghreb. Home to around 3,354,000 people, Algiers is
a very attractive city with beautiful sightseeing options. The name (Algiers)
is taken from an Arabic word "al-jazair" that is translated the
islands, representing 4 islands which became part of the mainland in the year
1525.
Algiers is known as the city of culture, a blend of French, Berber
and Arab heritage with history of warfare and spirituality, a place of poverty
and tourism. Ninety nine percent of residents are Sunnin Muslim and the main
languages spoken here are Berber, French and Arabic, while English is hardly
used.

located in the city as well. "The Great Mosque" has decorated
interior and known as the oldest mosque of the city. "The New Mosque"
is also worth visiting as it is designed in "Greek Cross" style. In
